Opening of new offices at Scapa Distillery

Picture shows the opening of new offices at Scapa Distillery in 1970. The men seated in suits are board members of the new owners Hiram Walker, makers of Ballantyne whisky.Those standing at the back are local and include (in no particular order) Jack Wylie, stillman, Alex Vesco, Excise Officer, Sibella Fraser, clerkess and distillery mother figure,Stuart Spence, Willie Fraser,Jimmie Leisk and Charlie Fraser warehousemen. The uniformed man is John Cursiter, Revenue Assistant. Part of the office floorcoverings came from remnants from the German fleet sunk in Scapa Flow. The offices have since been knocked down and removed from the site.

Aye, and it wasn't nice crawling under the floor of the offices. Lots of BIG brown furry things to greet you.
