This is the property which latterly housed R Garden Ltd and was destroyed by fire in 1938. See picture #1682 and the others there referred to. I have three questions which someone might be able to answer. First, was this door in the west wall of the main building, ie set back from the street and facing it, or in the north wall of the south wing? It can't have been in the south wall of the north wing, for that had an extension added to it by Garden. Second, why are two stones in the surrounding moulding more worn than the others - has the door frame been heightened? And third, when the building was demolished, did anyone think to save this stone?
