I believe this quarry was opened up by James Dennison, after he moved from Copinsay and that his was the first house built of stones from here. (from 'Around the Orkney Peat Fires'). He was my husband's g g g grandfather.

My father worked here 1963-66, we stayed in the peedie house at the Kirkwall side of the quarry.

I helped install the plant shown in 1963 when I was an apprentice with suppliers WH Baxter of Leeds brings back memories I was on site for 6 weeks late Feb to early April
