Another bit of the Wyre shore. Strange why all the stones are up on edge, only in this one area.
Photo taken 2011.

Interesting pile o' stone indeed, is it the same kind o stone as the rest o the beach, I've see a bit like this many years ago but it was oval stone in a heap, I was told by an old fella that it was ballast dumped from SMACKS... Only a thought..

That part of the shore is quite varied, from areas of flat rock to different levels of big rocks, black I think, but nothing else quite like this area.

I'm certainly not knowledgeable on this subject, but I too wondered if it was some kind of crude slip-way. The zig-zag at the far end is puzzling. Doesn't look like a natural phenomenon anyway.

With cassie, stones were in parallel.
If this was cassie and been disturbed by the sea, one would not expect them still to be mainly on edge.
Note: Cassie was common on stable floors in years gone by.

Next time I'm in Wyre I'll try to get more photos of it, if I'm still able to walk to it! I'm not getting any younger!

If this had been man-made it would have been an enormous undertaking

On looking back over my photos I see this, and the one of the birds nest, was taken in 2009 not 2011. The year is completely irrelevant as far as the rocks go, I'm sure they'll have looked the same since time immemorial!
