Nest on Wyre shore

This nest was nearly 6 ft up and contains 2 chicks. We wondered if they were cormorants. When we touched the edge of the nest both chicks sat up, mouths wide open, for a couple of seconds!
This was on our walk along the Wyre shore, below Cavit in 2011.

Comments:
To me they look like Hooded Crows, nearly fully fledged, but there seem to be three of them, not two.

I had another look at my original photo, Ian, and zoomed in on it. There are just two birds, but they haven't quite got their wings settled down still after the bit of excitement when they thought they were getting food!I tried but just failed to catch them with their beaks wide open. You could well be right about them being Hooded Crows. I think we just assumed being on the shore they might be sea birds.

Hoodies nest everywhere, from the ground up, and from the remote moors to the coast. (And beyond -once a pair tried to build on the mast of a blockship in Burra Sound.)
