This is a watercolour painting of George Thomas Mainland born 1811 in Middlesex, England. He was the son of George Mainand born 1773 at Testaquoy, Wyre and whose parents were Alexander Mainland and Isabel Morwick/Marwick. I think this portrait would have been painted just before his father was lost at sea in 1820. They both became Master Mariners.
Perhaps this photo will ring a bell to a Mainland descendent/relative ?
