I think it was 1981, but not quite sure.

Sunday 28 March 1982 Willie - Viscounts G-AOYL, G-AOYM, G-AOYO and G-APIM formed the special flight from Glasgow to Kirkwall on the 27th by BA to mark the withdrawl of the type from service.
The late Jack Ridgway organised a big 'do' (dinner/dance) for all involved. On departing the four aircraft performed a flypast over the town.
Oddly enough, mention was made just the other evening on a BBC Alba documentary covering news reports around Scotland in that year.

The year is right, 1982 when myself and Dennis Rosie were the pipers at the last of the Viscounts. I have photos of the occasion showing Dennis and I in Kirkwall City Pipe Band uniforms, however, I did not join the KCPB until 1985! Anybody with any clues to this mystery?
