I mind me Grandfaither saying aboot the number o cairts that came fae Whithall tea cairt herrin fae the drifters. Wid I be correct in saying hid wiz as much is 30? Anyway it wiz big business. As a matter o interest the boat he wiz on was the 'Mashona'. I aye thought shae wiz fae Holm, but I hiv just been reading the book 'Almost an Island' on the history o Dearness and I understand she was owned by a family from Dearness.
