Stromness Post Card

Don't know tha date the picture was taken but it's postmarked 20th January, 1915 - sent to Miss Jemima Walls, Erskins Sq, Kirkwall:
"Dear Sister, just a PC in answer to your long expected one which I really thought I was never to receive but I hope it will not be the case again. Stromness is very dull at present not much stirring about. When are you coming out to look, I am sending this view to let you see how pretty it looks. How I wish you could come out for a weekend. How's times in Kirkwall - write a long letter next time."

Comments:
Just as a matter of interest Laura, is there any indication as to the name of the sender.
It just so happens that some of my Walls ancestry stayed in that area at that time, and one of them was called Jemima.

At the bottom of the card there is some writing which MAY be a signature, but unfortunately I can't make it out. I will email you a scan of it, perhaps you can decipher it! The only other clue is at the top of the card, which says "Cairston", I think.
