'An unknown cloche-hatted woman at the wheel of a Rover 8 in Junction Road, Kirkwall. This is almost the same view as picture #458 and directly opposite picture #163. In the background a carter pauses to lean against his cart and look at what is going on in the Crafty, as do a group of people a little further down. It's probably fair time. The car had a flat-twin, air-cooled (the radiator is a dummy) engine with the cylinder heads protruding from the bonnet sides. It is said they glowed red-hot in the dark. The date is an estimate.'
