Corner of Junction Road and Burnmouth Road, 4/7

An Andy Wylie picture, date estimated, sent in by Alan Hale.

These pictures show the changes at that corner since 1962, when picture #293 was taken, and are collected together in their own group.

This one shows the building that preceded the current Kiln Corner housing and office development on completion.

The red and white car reg. no. BS 6727 is a Triumph Herald 1200 supplied new from Rossland Garage in May 1962 to a Mr Linklater of Holm Road. Thanks to Steven and Alan for confirming the number so I could look up the records.

I suspect the Mr Linklater you refer to is Tony Linklater who worked in the GPO (as was then) garage at Hatston. Tony was very active in the Kirkwall Sailing Club.

Note one of Tait & Park's 'Stromness via Sandwick & Birsay' buses, possibly Leyland reg No ARN207, dropping off passengers by Jeck Miller's Petrol pumps (now Wireless Museum).
