Firth Mill

A Tom Kent picture, date unknown. The Firth Mill in working order, with an impressive aqueduct to the wheel, which is still there. The end of a nice summers day with a bit of breeze, given the direction of the shadows and the smoke from Millcroft (?). Down at the brig you can see the ramp into the burn to allow the horses to get a drink.
Picture added on 23 May 2005
Comments:
Does anyone know who ran the mill and stayed in the house?

[Steven Heddle answers: I believe it was Arthur Paterson, who is still on the go and living in Spence's Square in Kirkwall]

Arthur stopped the wheel in March 1955. I have heard this was the last time any meal was ground.
