Is this the Firth Free School? If not, does anyone know where it was. My great grandfather was a teacher at the Firth Free School 1869 to 1874.

As far as i gather the school is the house behind with no roof an the single tree next too it

This picture is of Firthside, which indeed was a school. The ruined building above, mentioned above, was the school before that. My great grandfather, William Firth was school teacher in the early 1850s, being born at Wasdale in 1828. John Firth, in reminiscences of an Orkney parish, includes a chapter on education in Firth.

The wooden house of The Brae wasn't there till 1933 seen in the distance to the right of the photo, so 1910 isn't the year of this photo.
