Yes I would like to know if my father Douglas Tait is in this photo - born in Kirkwall in 1918 he would have been in school then?

Marion, really thrilled to see this picture, which my mum passed onto me. She thinks the year might be incorrect, as family members Iris Norn was born 1921 and Sheila (Norn) in 1923. She thought they looked older than 6 and 4 years of age. Their mother, Dolly Norn, was until recently the oldest citizen on Orkney (she died on Christmas Eve, aged 104!).

I thought my father looked older than age 7 in this too but it was he who said it was 1927. I think he looks a few years older so maybe the photo is 1928/9. I remember dolly norn well.

We are very interested in the Norn connection - several of my husband's ancestors came from the Orkney's and we have been hunting for a family contact there. The girl second from the left in the back row is my aunt Jean Sclater. She was born (I think) in 1923. I don't think this photo can date from 1927 - I would say about 1930 or a bit later.
