Peter writes:
'The title of this picture speaks for itself. People came from literally all over the world for these celebrations.
Being 67 years ago, not many of these will be with us today. I can only vouch for one of them...the very young man comfortably seated in the front row...enough said.'

Jim,
I think we can safely say that this was the afternoon performance. I would never have been allowed to attend the 7pm performance at my age!!

You're in rather grand company there, Peter. I've just been looking at the Octocentenary booklet and in the row behind you, from right to left, are: Right Rev. Dr. Dugald Macfarlane, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland; Alfred Baikie of Tankerness, Lord Lieutenant of Orkney and Shetland; Dr. A. W. Brogger, Professor of Archaeology at Oslo University(representing the State of Norway); the Earl of Caithness; J. Storer Clouston, Convener of the County of Orkney and pageant co-author; Dr. Oluf Kolsrud, Professor of Church History at Oslo University (representing the Norwegian church); Sir Francis Grant, Lord Lyon King of Arms; and Herra Jon Baldvinsson, Premier of Iceland.
