Alan sends in this picture taken by his father in law, Andy Wylie. Here we see the Standing Stones Hotel in Stenness as it was before it went on fire in the 80s (?).

Me and my sister worked at the standing stones hotel as chamber maids in 2000, we had a few spooky incounters in one of the top floor bedrooms now known as room 12, we were later told that someone died in that room when the fire was there!

I think that fire was the 17th March (late 80's) and it was the night of the Orkney Strathespey and Reel's do, as it was to be held there so not surprisingly it was cancelled. Was there not an earlier fire years before that?

I like the natural colour rendition of these old emulsions. Far more pleasing than the saturated colours we get nowadays.
