Charlie Hourston maybe, and BS 96

1912 - 1920?

Although the facial features are indistinct, I'm sure this is my Uncle Charlie Hourston with a pre-WW1 belt-driven NSU motorbike (which my father once borrowed without having ridden one previously and came badly unstuck at a steep corner at the north end of the Swannay loch). If I'm right about the rider's identity, he was born in 1891. My guess as to when the photo might have been taken is based on how old he looks. Maybe he bought the bike with his sergeant's pay during the war. I don't think he kept his moustache very long afterwards.
No prizes for identifying the location; not an ideal spot for a photoshoot today.

Could he be wearing the same boots as in picture #25054?

Don't think so - these boots seem to come further up the leg and look too elegant to be Army issue.
