Comments:
Charlie Hourston ended Great War a Sergeant, both James as Corporal (or Bombardier). James Flett married Annie Gaudie in January 1915, son James born that year. Family went to New Zealand after the war. James jr was killed at Cassino in a NZ tank unit in May 1944. Sister Fiona Winskill, born when James aged 60 in his second marriage, visited Orkney last summer. Photos of both James (Dad in civvies, son in uniform) and the grave at Cassino shown on the Legion website at www.rbls-kirkwall.org.uk/memorials/Bir.htm
