In The Orcadian of 12 Feb 2015 there's a letter from J Garrioch referring to Italian PoW chapels other than the one on Lamb Holm, and inviting iterested readers to Google chapels in Zimbabwe and Kenya. In 1963, I photographed the one in Kenya, picturesquely nestled under the Kikuyu Escarpment (above). It appeared well cared-for then and seems even more so now. Its builders obviously didn't have to adapt and recycle whatever materials they could find or scrounge; it's all dressed stone and fine timber, though very small.
