An unused hand-tinted Valentine's Series postcard showing Albert Street in 1885 - or thereabouts! Most Valentine cards have numbers on the front of the cards, sometimes in very small print. These numbers denote the date of the negative used for the postcard; not the date that the card was published or when it might have been posted. A website devoted to these cards states that photo/neg No1 was taken in 1870 and that this figure had risen to 11788 in the 1890s. The figure in the bottom right of this card is 10258, hence my approximation of the date the original photo was taken.
