Just when you thought there couldn't be any more postcards of the Big Tree...This one was sent to a couple in Paisley in June 1970, so was probably taken a few years before that. You can see Groundwater's old shop front, the tree at the Atholl and the railings around the Big Tree, all long gone. A couple of the cars on front of the bank are interesting. The one furthest away is definitely pre-war. Then there is a Ford Prefect and, nearest the camera and unfortunately cropped by my scanner, what might well be a big 1950s Sunbeam or a Wolseley.

Do you think this could be one of the most photographed trees in Scotland?!
Not bad for an Island with "no trees"!
