Photo taken at a guess,1920s. Still pre. Town Council housing scheme of White St,etc. Duckie Pond in the centre, Stooks and skroos of oats over the wall and what appears to be an allottment with huts where White St.,etc., would be built. The two-storey house has fond memories. Wwhen we were young boys the Stout Family built an extension on the upper end of the house for a shop in the late forties/early fifties and it was very busy, the start of incoming bags of potato crisps and frozen ice cream and choc. blocks. The lower half of the house belonged to George and Mary Tullock who later owned the Willows Bake Shop. We had happy days, model boat sailing in the Duckie Pond and swinging accross the Willow Burn on a rope from one tree with a long overhanging branch, many a weeting we had between the two. Papdale Army Camp would have been built near the trees on the right. Added by Phil Brough.
