I have copyied this photo and given it to the present owner of the Mohican that is Mr Wm Lancaster of Rysa Lodge Lyness.

Our grand father Jimmy Thomson must have bought the Mohican shortly after this photo was taken as they moved here to Longhope in 1924 and brought Mohican with them then.

The vessel is in first class order and was launched last week for a summer of use by Willie -she is a credit to all her former owners over a hundred years of use.

Thanks John, for the information about how the Mohican got to Longhope, now along with the rest of the details of the yole’s past from Mr Wm Lancaster there’s almost a complete history. It’s all very interesting and great to know that after all this time the vessel is in such good order and still in use.
The Hay family also used to have another single masted boat with the name Mohawk, any idea where that one went to?
