Harray Stores
R. Garden Ltd employees at the Harray Stores in the 1930s. Jane Harris may find this interesting as it shows two of her Sclater relations also in picture #24870.
Back row, left to right: Celia Sclater, Barbara Sclater, James Flett (my grandfather);
front row, left to right: "Sperax" the dog, Jim Cromarty, Pam Flett (later Sutherland, my mother), Oliver Laughton, Bob Delday.
I think Jim Cromarty drove for Gardens in Kirkwall, but the others were at Harray. One day, possibly around this time, my mother came upon a bucket of tar and a brush and thought it would be fun to paint poor Sperax with it. What my grandmother did when she found out may be imagined! Date estimated. [1935]

Delighted to have found this photo today as I was writing a blog about Barbara and Celia Sclater's family home, Kebro (www.janealogy.co.uk/blog/52ancestors13/) and looking for a link about the Harray Stores. Many thanks Paul and I'm really sorry it has taken me so long to find this great photo.
