Would that be the policeman or customs man at the back left ?
Added by Ian Cameron on 17 February 2010
I believe the uniformed gentleman to be Police Constable Thomas Mainland of the Orkney Police Force. He joined the force in July 1920 and retired in June 1950.

You could well be right there Eddie. I know Tom Mainland was one of the Stronsay bobbies during the herring fishing.
