Due to this collision my refuge family sailed to America on another ship. I still have the unused landing card. We arrived in New York August 29, 1952.

My family was on this ship (I was 6 years old) and after "repairs" we successfully landed in Halifax at Pier 21. This is a photo that I had not seen before

At her launch ceremony, did the champagne-bottle swinger say ". . . and all who salen her"?

I and my mother were on this ship. I was nine at the time. The collision happened in the night and for a while it seemed touch and go as to whether or not we would actually have to abandon ship. I remember being on deck with my mother in the middle of the night wearing life jackets. After we got finally got underway I also remember the storm we encountered in the north Atlantic with 50' waves that made all the adults as sick as dogs and devastated the eating arrangements in the dining area.
