The Pylons

Remember the pylons at Netherbutton? I can, but I can't remember the year when the black and white 425 line transmissions stopped and the pylons were taken down.

I'm afraid I couldn't resist adding this to the Aerial Views gallery.

Tom writes:
'Photo of WW2 Aerial Towers at Netherbutton, taken in 1960 after right hand tower had TV aerials added. The smaller wooden towers had already been dismantled. Rolleiflex 2.8D, FP4. Exposure data not recorded.'

Picture added on 22 July 2004
Comments:
In 1986 the new Keelylang station made Netherbutton redundant and the masts were sold for scrap.

I remember the smaller masts - and what the storm of February 1952 did to them!! We lived at Northfield at the time.
