The date is a guess. I beleive the plane skidded off the runway and into mud.

[I remember in 6th year at KGS a group of us took a minibus and trailer to the airport and came back with one of the Rolls Royce engines from the plane. This was liberated as a trophy for the Technical Dept. at the behest of Sandy Firth or Alistair Tulloch. Is it still there?- Steven]

Its an Alidair Viscount ...... on supply to Shetland ... I think diverted due to weather... my dad did the chairman job on the air accident inquiry .. to the best of my knowledge ...I do have paperwork on it somewhere....
