We were the last year to start at the "old" school. We went to Papdale for the next year (see later photo) and returned to School Place the year after! I can give all the names except for the young lady fifth from left in the front row. If anyone knows who this is I would be grateful.

Thank you Ian, This was my first and last year at school in Orkney, before my family moved to Aberdeen. I knew there was a photograph of the class, but I did not have a copy. I am on the end of the middle row. My last memory of the school must have been the end of year prize giving when the classrooms were opened up into one large room, with all the desks banking up away from the teachers.

Lovely photo. They are all younger than me but I mind Noel Jane Barton; she had a younger sister, Elizabeth Ann. Their folks were family friends (John and Rena, I think). I also see Eileen Marwick. I worked with her in Aberdeen for many a year but don’t mind seeing her in Kirkwall. I think that her folks were from Rousay.

Sorry, I got my comments a bit wrong yesterday. Noel Jane Barton is the younger sister of Elizabeth Ann.
