The radar in the picture is definitely not a a CA No 2 Mk I* (aka CD No 1 Mk V* and AMES Type 41) which were trailer-mounted small cabin sets with twin 6 ft dishes). However, it is an extremely rare illustration of the AMES Type 51 (only three sets total) in its original state as constructed by the ADRDE Christchurch with twin 10 foot diameter dishes. The other two sets were at Truleigh Hill and South Ronaldsay. The Truleigh Hill set was later modified by TRE who fitted smaller dishes.

After correspondence, Mike Dean and I agreed that the set in this photo is not an AMES Type 51, but is in fact a CA (Coast Artillery) No.1 Mk3*. A set of that type is recorded as being in place at Stanger by March 1945. There was also a CA No 2 Mk I* installed at Stanger, near the Port War Signal Station.
