Date approx. Members of the Maxwell family. It would be interesting if anyone recognises the location. One of the sisters in the picture was Elizabeth Maxwell, teacher on Shapinsay. They could have been visiting relatives on Stronsay or was it taken in Kirkwall?

Dont think this is Stronsay. no buildings like that here now. The carriage would be what was called a Phaeton. Only ever heard of one in Stronsay but dont think it looked like that
