What a splendid photo! I bet there was a very distinctive smell inside, with all that variety of goods. The more you look, the more things you notice. "Licensed to sell tobacco" is painted above the door. Higher still, carved in the stonework but long since weathered away, the date 1878. And what is that running horizontally across both windows about three quarters of the way up? Is it just for hanging goods from for display, or is it a gas pipe with burners?
