Alan's picture from June 1984 shows among other things OTE getting their roof replaced, the Big Tree in fine bloom, and the Kirkwall Hotel much higher than the surrounding buildings. Someone at the Clydesdale Bank seems to be taking a photo of Alan at the same time.

I bet those cobbles caused many a twisted ankle at the tsb. No phone box opposite either. The street looks quiet too
