At anchor in Stromness.
First boat bigger than a dinghy that Pia built, with the help of Brian Moar,to a design by Ewing McGruer. Built in 1962 at his old shed before moving out to Ness. Called Clearway and was moored in the Basin at Kirkwall last year, 2007.

That's the "Clearway" that Professor Miller had, she was moored below his house at the southend(Stromness). Arnold Park and the Prof did a bit of pleasure fishing with her.

I think Pia Anderson was a relative of mine. Do you know what Pia meant as we have several in our family tree. Thank you.

My mother told me the nickname 'Pia' derived from a ship named 'Pioneer' with which the original Pia Anderson obviously had a close connection, though whether as owner, master, crewman etc I can't recall.
As to who the original Pia was, again I'm not sure, but I think it may have been the father of the one who built this boat, as in my younger days the latter was always called 'Young Pia'. I don't think the original would have been further back than the grandfather anyway.
