Willie Watters sends in a follow up to picture #920, and writes:
This is the Stenness mill as it is today. It has been radically changed. A quote from the antiquarian society volume xii of 1934-35 states that "He was also tenant of the meal mill of Stenness. This mill it will be noticed had nothing to do with the present mill of Tormiston but stood on the burn near the present Post Office. The old building was demolished about 25 years ago for the erection of the threshing mill which now occupies the site. many will remember the old thatch roofed building with the old mill wheel." The new building is at right angles to the road whereas the old one was parallel.
I also enclose a drawing from the same book which was captioned " The old mill of stenness"
