Longship in the Kirkwall Marina

A fine selection of shipping in this picture taken yesterday by Marion.

The visting longship Gaia sits proudly anachronistically in the Marina, with a visiting liner moored in the bay. The blue-hulled boat alongside the marina breakwater is a harbours department pilot boat, possibly the one that is up for sale just now (offers in the region of 75,000- not sure if that includes VAT as it is a commercial vehicle!).

Comments:
Slight correction, for you, The blue hulled boat in the picture is not the pilot boat, its the Dunstanburgh, which belongs to Reid Marine and is used for survey work.
Added by Craig Taylor on 05 July 2005
Actually, another correction, the dunstanburgh is owned by Albert Reid not Reid Marine.
