Alan writes:
'I read that a Viking longship will be visiting Orkney today 1-7-05 from Norway on its way to the Isle of Man .Here are pictures of a reconstruction of a Viking longship which made a similar journey from Norway to the Isle of Man in July 1979. One snap is of it leaving Kirkwall, but what is the sailing ship in the foreground I wonder? The other snap has the longship with its sail raised at Stromness.'

I think that the sailing ship in the foreground is a Faeroese fishing smack called the Westward Ho, and if I remember correctly the viking longship was the Odin's Raven or something like that!
