A&J Taylor's shop, Junction Road

Craig writes:
'This is a picture of when my Grandparents Allan and Jean Taylor had their shop in Junction Road in the eighties. They sold second hand furniture, did house removals, window cleaning, gardening etc. They have had a few shops in different areas of Kirkwall over the years.'

Date is an estimate, but for once I'm fairly confident! The shop was formerly Robbie Milne's music shop, with Aladdin's Cave being a good description of both the stock and the layout.

April 2008. I have just bought a house in Junction Rd. Where is this shop and what is it now please?
Added by Andy Fairbairn on 13 April 2008
It is used by Age Concern as a store now. Location is down beside the flat at the Castle Street Junction, across from the Castleyard Houses. [Just north of the new library, on the west side of Junction Road- Steven]

Hi Steven, many thanks. It's on the same side as my house but further along the road.
Again thanks.

The original owner of the shop used to sell musical instruments think his name was Robert Rendal I bought my first mouth organ from this shop 1956, and still can't play the thing {but have learn't to play the fidle} I think he sold 78 records, one if my memory serves me correctly was called An Evening at the Bu with Robert Rendal and I think it featured the man himself?
