Riding of the Marches

Kenny writes:
'This photo taken by myself was of the first re-enactment of The Riding of The Marches. I cant remember if the year was 1985 or 1987. At the left hand side you can see Jackie Tait who was OIC Convener at the time. Holding on to the cart is John McDonald and on the cart itself facing - Dr Sidney Peace and my father, Clive Thomson. They were former Kirkwall Town Council Councillors.'

Comments:
This photo brings back fond memories of my childhood long long ago, before I reached my destination at New Cumnocks ebb and flow. I well remember the Horse and Carts and the Parades every year, although this was'nt on ORKNEY the view is still very dear. In trying to recall our childhood we try to visualise each year as it was, thats when a Photo Captures the reason for Our Futures Pause.
