Third row from back.Fifth from the Left..is John Fotheringhame

Also my Dad John Fotheringhame would have been 11 if this is 1950 so it is possible that they were in p6 or p7. I believe that Gordie Thomson was in his year so he my know others in the photo if he is still living!

I am sure it was about 1955 as I think I am the girl in the front row 5 in from left as it looks like another one in an old school photo as I recognise some faces but cannot put names to them- the name John Fotheringhame rings a bell.

Herbert!,Arthur started school the same year as we did, 1945, his photo is on our School Reunion photo taken in the Tankerness Hall in 2001, it could be Tommy or Michael in this Photo. Added by Phil Brough.

The photo was taken in 1948 at the end of our primary 1, nowadays called Primary 3. At that time first two years were called infants 1 and 2.

Back Row - it is Arthur Borwick. For some reason he ended up back a year with us. Next to him is Davie Flett and 3rd from right is CHRIS Fraser.

2nd Row 1st left is Rodney Flett; 3rd in is Brian Kemp; 5th in is Robert Evans and extreme right is Michael Wishart. 3rd Row it is Margaret HADDEN then Brenda Delday; 6th in is Jimmie Clouston and next him is Ewan Sutherland;

Front Row - extreme left is Jean Harcus; 5th in is Evelyn Thomson and next to her is Phyllis Foulis; and it is CATHERINE, not Kathleen, Swanney. Our teacher was Miss Maltman who married a Seatter from Holm.

Photos seem to have been taken every two years by J.W.Sinclair except for 5th/6th years and school teams taken every year for the "Kirkwallian."

Second row left it's himself ( Rodney Flett) Standing in front of Arthur Borwick. We left Orkney In '54 to live in Cumberland [14 years old.] About 4 years later,one Sunday morning while out walking ,I felt a tap on my shoulder. Yes Arthur here on an ore boat . Small world boeu! Can anyone spell yon name?

This picture shows my Mum, Nan Seatter (Maltman before she married in 1952). She married my father Lawrie Seatter, who was in the RAF in Burma in the war, and went to work in Singapore and Malaysia after that. My Mum worked as a teacher there. They came back to live in Largs in 1967, where they ran a shop opposite the railway station. My sister, Lynne, also worked as a teacher in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Some years ago we went with my Mum and Dad, my wife and daughter back to visit Orkney. They enjoyed the visit very much and my Mum was delighted to meet some of her former pupils.
My Dad died in 2006, and my Mum died on 24 July 2012.
