'Next photo of the cinema demolition for your library. Taken Sat morning about 9am so had to lighten the pic a bit. They have cut down half of the metal frame roof and it is lying to the right side. No signs of any work or workmen on site when I was there so don't know if the demolition will be completed this weekend.'

In Marions picture you can still see the remains of the cinemas ventilation trunking up in the roof section. At the very front of the building there is a huge extractor fan which expelled any bad air. This was particularly useful in the days when smoking was allowed in the cinema. Just above the yellow cherry picker you can still see the projection room 'portholes' from where the late Dougie Shearer and the late Billy Scollie ran the films and looked down on the audience. Many people in the audience thought that once the lights went down, they couldnt be seen in the dark, but from the projection room, everyone could be seen and theres many a story to tell!!
