This photo, teen by Stewart Fotheringhame shows a close up of the Orkney Golf Club which can be seen in the distance in picture #4189.
A test for the experts, what are the vehicles and who owned them?
This golfer can still occasionally be seen gracing the fairways of the Orkney Golf Club. In his head he still thinks he swings the club as freely as this young man does!!

2 things bruce, there does not seem to be a golf ball that you are trying to hit and the motorbike looks like a kawasaki kh 250 or 400

I think the cars are a 1300 and a Talbot Horizon

I'd say the cars were a VW and a Colt.

I agree with the 1100/1300 on the white car but the other looks more like a Hillman/Chrysler Avenger (twin headlights)

Yhe cars are a Mitsubishi Colt Galant and I'm not sure about the other-It's either a Wolsley or a VW Variant.God knows who owns them, I'm just a car geek.....

The cars look like a Wolsley 1300 and a Colt Sigma. No idea who owned them, but the bike I, m pretty sure looks like a Honda CB250N, Registration number KBS110T, first registered on 30th March 1979 and owned by Ronnie Bullen.

Definitely a Mitsi Colt Galant. My uncle had a brown one.
The other one is also definitely a VW 1300 or 1600 Variant. They used to have the reg plate across the middle panel on the front usually where the radiator grill would be. Being a rear engined air cooled motor, it didn't need the grill up front so it was just a blank panel. So there. Told you I'm a car geek.

If I mind right the pale blue VW was indeed owned by Jim Wilson and I have a feeling the Mitsibushi Colt Galant might have been driven by Bruce Guthrie.

The Wineish Brown Galant or Sigma was probably owned by Charlie Craigie ex police man and another club stalwart in those good old days.

I agree the one car's Jimmy Wilson's but there's no way that Charlie Craigie would have parked there, it's too close to the clubhouse. He always parked out at the 15th green. Must agree trendy shoes Bruce!

There is no ball there because I'm posing... yes posing for the camera!!
Stewart Fotheringhame was the photographer.
As for the golf shoes they were quality rubber Dunlops. Kinda like cut off wellies with spikes. Not once did I come off the course with wet feet. Can't say that about some of the shoes I've had in recent years.

Is 'posing' is an adequate excuse for not showing a ball? What if Michelangelo's David had felt the same way?
