'Castle Street - this is Castle Street, Kirkwall showing it's junction at the
crossroads with Junction Road. Date unknown but someone may be able to date it from the car?'
The car registration seems tp be BKD 515. Note the person standing in the window of what I remember as Charles T Stewart's, and the old Kirkwall gasworks on the left. The sign at the coal merchants on West castele Street was still there until recently, and may still be there- I must have a look.

The little stone house at the end of West Castle Street is where the Borwicks lived. It was next to Davy Laughton's smiddy.

Thank you for the photo. That is my grandfather's shop. I remember it but it had already changed hands by the time I came along.
