'1935 Jubilee - Taken in Junction Road, Kirkwall. The young boy sitting on the lap of the man who is sitting on the wall on the right side of the photo is the late Ian Swanney, car dealer in Kirkwall.'
A very poignant picture, and a great shame I an Swanney is not here to see it. The celebrations are for the Silver Jubilee of George V, who died the following year. To me it looks as though we are looking towards the pier up the Back Road from approximately where the Legion is now.
