I'm not sure of the year - it could have been 1924. This is a picture of my grandfather's and shows him fourth left, back row.

Hi Fred, I think I'm right in saying this photo was taken in Shetland.

Hi Brian, it's been a long time...

Thanks for that. Do you know anything more, what year for example?

I recognize the following:

Back: 4th left - W Grieve; 5th right - E Gibson; 2nd right - J Cumming; far right - D Laughton

Sorry Fred but I can't name Any More apart from the Drum Major Davie Nicolson

Fred, I am nearly certain that the gentleman standing next to Davie Laughton, second from the right standing, is none other than James Cooper, who in later years was instructor of piping to the 1st Kirkwall Coy.Boys Brigade.

I agree (see my earlier post). By the time I started piping in the 1st Kirkwall, Arnold Calder was instructing but I remember James Cooper well.

Yes, Brian, it looks like the Gilbertson Park in Lerwick (I had a look today as I walked past). In fact I think you can see that building in picture #2816.
