Lived out of Orkney for 4 years now. This is the scene of Orkney that sticks in my head most. Cheers, Buey.

If we're going to refer to each other as 'boy' using spelling that suggests the good old Orkney pronunciation of the word, may I recommend we use BEUY rather than BUEY. The latter looks as if it rhymes with suey as in chop suey - or Hughie as in the late Mr Yorston celebrated elsewhere in this Library.
The old Orkney way of pronouncing 'she' is usually rendered as 'sheu'; I doubt if anyone would think 'shue' (as in blue, clue, flue, glue etc etc) was a satisfactory alternative.
I'm far from the first to make this plea, but no doubt I'll wind up in the VCITW* club along with my predecessors.
