Alan Park
Added by Robert Thomson on 25 May 2017
The late Alan Park it is.
In the book The Far-flung Isles (Robert Hale 1961) the author Garry Hogg devotes a couple of pages to a description of a lively crossing from Hoy to Stromness in Alan's motor-boat. (Not the boat in the photo.) Hogg deploys an extensive, slightly purple, vocabulary; young Alan contributes not one word.
Any information on the double-ended skiff in the picture? It looks well supplied with oars but with room for just one rower (even allowing for the fact that Alan Park was a very big man)?
