Stronsay Lifeboat Naming Ceremony

This picture was taken at Stronsay by the late J.W.Sinclair,Photographer,Kirkwall.
One of two identical vessels,the John Gellatly Hyndman was named by Mrs Laura Grimond,wife of the then Member of Parliament Mr Joseph Grimond.(later Lord Grimond)
The other Barnett class lifeboat,The Archibald and Alexander M Paterson, was stationed at Stromness.

I believe that is my uncle, Tom Carter, standing at the bow of the lifeboat. He was coxwain of the Stronsay lifeboat for a few years.

I have just found this photo which is of interest to me too. Tom Carter was also my Uncle.

I was the little girl who presented the bouquet to Mrs Grimond that day - where has the time gone?!
