Ref my comment on picture #28040, here's the slide in question, taken at max wide-angle and compositionally less than perfect (to put it mildly). I'm not sure I got all 14 seals in the frame, but my note made at the time definitely says 14.
This is the greatest number I've seen in the loch at one time, but I don't doubt that others - particularly those whose domicile overlooks the loch - will have seen more. The tide must have been just right for hauling-out on semi-submerged rocks to enjoy the weak winter sun.
I idly wondered whether seals - perhaps youngsters - ever fail to find their way out again and what happens to them in that event, ie do they thrive in the loch environment?
