Came across on Stenness beach, any ideas?

Stenness
Does 'Stenness beach' refer to the shore of the loch or of the Bay of Eyrland Brenda - or is that part of the puzzle?
The biggest number of Common Seals I've ever seen in Stenness Loch at one visit was 14*. No doubt others will have seen more - but it was enough to make me wonder whether they would all find their way out again and if the odd one didn't whether it would thrive within the loch indefinitely. (Maybe this was one that didn't?)
* I'll try to find an old slide confirming this, and if it's fit for reproduction I'll post it.
